A playball, especially a golf ball, comprises a core surrounded by a cover the core comprising a material formed from an elastomer by highly cross-linking the elastomer with flexible cross-links by means of a cross-linking agent which is used in an amount from 20- 75% by weight of the elastomer. The core elastomer may be cis-polybutadiene, trans-polyisoprene or trans-polybutadiene cross-linking agents being difunctional esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid. The balls are formed by moulding a core from cross-linking agent, elastomer and filler in presence of an initiator for cross-linking curing, and forming a cover round the ball.
