In the construction of a building concrete foundation a first layer of gravel or lean concrete is laid down to provide a bed for steel-reinforced concrete. The steel reinforcement is esp. a steel mesh consisting of zigzag shanks of individual length 14 cm, each linked at an angle of 90[deg] to the adjacent shank. The overall depth is 10 cm.
