The device has inputs for receiving two input signals based on a parameter to be detected, an output for an output signal, a device for switching the output signal to a first logic level if the first input signal exceeds a threshold greater than the defined value and to a second logic level if it falls below a second threshold lower than the defined value and a device for adjusting the thresholds using the second input signal. The device has inputs (12,14) for receiving first and second input signals (A,B) based on a parameter to be detected, whereby the second input signal is greater than the first if the first input signal has a defined value, an output (20) for a first output signal (OUT), a device (16) for switching the output signal to a first logic level if the first input signal exceeds a threshold greater than the defined value and to a second logic level if it falls below a second threshold lower than the defined value and a device for adjusting the thresholds using the level of the second input signal.
