ENDOCRINE CELL LINES AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME

It is intended to provide: (1) various cell lines originating in mammalian hypothalamus and pancreatic islet; (2) an expression cloning system of an active peptide precursor gene using such a cell line as a host and a process for producing an active peptide; (3) a method of searching for a substance acting on the cells and a method of evaluating the same with the use of the above cell line; (4) a method of searching for a useful gene or a useful peptide and a method of acquiring the same with the use of the above cell line; and (5) a highly sensitive and convenient GPCR ligand assay system to be used in the above expression cloning system.
