摘要 An optical device is implemented in a medical device having a photonic catheter containing optical conductors conducting light energy in two directions between electronics at a catheter proximal end and electrical stimulation and sensing components at a catheter distal end. The optical device includes an optical unit (60 of Figure 5), which receives light delivered from the catheter proximal end and transmits a first portion of the light to an opto­electrical converter (38 of Figure 5) while diverting a second portion of the light to optical modulators (34 of Figure 5). The transmitted light is converted to electrical signals by the opto-electrical converter (38 of Figure 5). The diverted light is modulated by one or more optical modulators (34 of Figure 5) wherein the modulation is based upon electrical signals received from an optical sense signal generator (36 of Figure 5). The optical sense signal generator (36 of Figure 5) generates electrical sense signals corresponding to one or more sensed physiological conditions such that the electrical sense signals control the modulation of the optical modulator(s) (34 of Figure 5). This results in modulation of the diverted light output into optical sense signals that are transmitted to the catheter proximal end.
