At least three cartridges (4) are inserted into a corresponding number of cavities in the bat head (2). These cavities extend inwards from the outer edge (6) of the bat head. The cartridges are used to dampen mechanical vibrations in the bat and each comprise a hollow body filled with freely movable solid particles.
