A mass spectrometer has a gas collision cell with a housing having a differential inlet pump and a differential outlet pump. The spectrometer further has an alternating current ion-guide or a high-frequency ion-guide extending through the gas collision cell. The guide extends upstream of the differential inlet pump. The inlet pump inlet is formed by an electrode which is part of the ion-guide. An independent claim is included for a gas collision cell with electrode apertures. The gas collision cell has an aperture through which a collision gas is admitted, e.g. helium, argon, nitrogen, air or methane.
|
