The operating lever for the lock of a metal framed door incorporates an inclined tab which, in addition to securing the latch in the locked or unlocked positions, is spring loaded to assist the final locking or unlocking movement of the latch. The cam (24') causes the operating lever (10) to pivot about its axis (20) and thus to actuate the latch by means of a second lever(9) which rotates about a lower pivot (13). The operating lever (10) rises, the pin (20) sliding in its slot (45) and compressing the spring (46). The tab (47), spring loaded downwards, acts with the rounded profile (51) of the latch tail to extend the latch fully. Withdrawal of the latch is similarly assisted.
