<p>The bicycle has front and rear wheel caliper brakes, each being connected by a cable to a linkage. The linkage includes a swingable cam element which is normally disposed in the path of travel of a cooperating cam member mounted for movement concentrically about the pedal axle. The cam element is removed from the path during forward pedalling action and is engageable with the back pedalling action. In the latter condition, force is applied to the linkage for effecting a pull upon the cables to effect braking operation. The cams are so related to the pedal cranks that when engagement with the cam element is effected, one pedal crank will be downwardly directed.</p> |
