The invention relates to a mobile, electronic arithmetic unit (1) which can be held in one hand, especially in the form of a known Personal Data Assistant (PDA) or Handheld Computer. Said arithmetic unit comprises a software-controlled processing unit (3), at least one memory device (4) linked therewith for depositing software modules and/or data which is to be processed, at least one display device (8) for the visually perceptible output of information and at least one input device (10) which is used to at least influence the operational functions of the arithmetic unit (1) and/or the input of data. The display device and input device (8, 10) are preferably combined in the form of a touch-sensitive screen, for example a touch screen (12) in terms of their components or functions. At least one standardised interface (6; 7) is disposed on the housing (2) of the arithmetic unit (1) which links the unit with peripheral, electronic or electrical devices, such as e.g. a personal computer. The standardised interface (6; 7) or an independent interface is provided for connecting at least one security switch element (13) of the emergency shutdown switch type (14) and/or a permissive sensor (15). The invention also relates to a module-type extension device for standardised mobile arithmetic units. |
