NOVEL AROMATIC COMPOUND AND ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCNET ELEMENT CONTAINING THE SAME

A novel aromatic compound having an anthracene skeleton and an asymmetric molecular structure; and an organic electroluminescent element which comprises a negative electrode, a positive electrode, and sandwiched therebetween one or more organic thin-film layers comprising a luminescent layer, wherein at least one of the organic thin-film layers contains the aromatic compound alone or as a component of a mixture. The organic electroluminescent element has a high luminance and a high luminescent efficiency, has a high color purity, and emits a blue light. It further has excellent high-temperature stability and a long life. The novel aromatic compound enables this element to be provided.
