<p>The invention relates to a recording apparatus, a recording method, a recording medium and a program that enhance a high speed of recording. A CPU (11) determines, based on blank block information and cluster information acquired from a Memory Stick (31), the sizes of data blocks constituted by clusters, and adjusts, based on the sizes of the data blocks, the initial positions of the data blocks to initialize the Memory Stick (31). When moving image data are recorded into the Memory Stick (31), the CPU (11) causes the moving image data to be recorded, data block by data block, only in the data blocks where all the clusters are empty.
