METHOD FOR CHECKING FAULT GENERATION OF ROUTING PROTOCOL MODULE IN DISTRIBUTED STRUCTURE ROUTER

PURPOSE: A method for checking the fault generation of a routing protocol module in a distributed structure router is provided to reduce an overhead of the routing protocol module, which is generated when checking the fault of the routing protocol module. CONSTITUTION: A routing protocol module checks whether a period for transmitting a hello packet arrives, according to a counter of a timer(502). If the period arrives, the routing protocol module checks a refresh variable(504). If the refresh variable is 1, the routing protocol module checks whether a send variable is set up as 1(520). If the send variable is not set up as 1, the routing protocol module transmits the hello packet to an adjacent routing protocol module(522). The routing protocol module sets a refresh variable value as 0(524). The routing protocol module sets a send variable value as 1(526). If the refresh variable value is not 1, the routing protocol module sets the refresh variable value as 1(506). The routing protocol module checks whether a hello packet is received from the adjacent routing protocol module(508). If the hello packet is not received from the adjacent routing protocol module, the routing protocol module checks whether a hello response packet is received from the adjacent routing protocol module or is transmitted to the adjacent routing protocol module(510). If the hello response packet is transmitted to the adjacent routing protocol module or is received from the adjacent routing protocol module, the routing protocol module sets the refresh variable value and the send variable value as 0(514).
