Dynamic gain equalising filter

A long-period Bragg grating (5) is partially immersed in distinct sections of an external environment composed of gels, to tune wavelength and/or the contrast of spectral response of the filter. One of sections has refractive index higher than refractive index of an optical cladding and the other section has refractive index lower than refractive index of the optical cladding. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) filter packaging device; and (2) optical gain equalizing system.
