PURPOSE: An apparatus for inspecting a surface of an object is provided to simply determine defects of an article by detecting deformation on the surface of the article using a surface inspecting apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A surface inspecting apparatus includes a table(20), on which a microphone(10) is mounted. The microphone(10) is installed at the center of a frustum-conical hollow mirror(40). The frustum-conical hollow mirror(40) is mounted on the center of a light emitting device(30) having a plurality of light emitting devices. Light radiated from the light emitting device(30) passes through the frustum conical hollow mirror(40) and is reflected from a side of the microphone(10). Light reflected from an inner peripheral portion of the frustum conical hollow mirror(40) is transmitted into a CCD camera(50). The light emitting device(30) includes annular ring light.
