PURPOSE: A vehicle wiring harness designing system and method is provided to construct a work cooperation environment for the overall design process, to eliminate a repetitive work in a current process, and to automate a design process so that it can enhance a design quality. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a part BOM(Bill Of Material) management system(10), a product BOM management system(20), an installation BOM management system(30), a product management system(40), an installation management database(50), an installation information support system(70), an installation specification management system(80), a circuit management system(90), and a layout management system(100). The part BOM management system(10) manages a part list and a structure of assembly parts. The product BOM management system(20) receives data from the part BOM management system(10), and manages a specification of a vehicle product. The installation BOM management system(30) manages structure data for optimizing the installation specification, filtering conditions, and a final simulation result. The product data management system(40) systematically manages each design data. The installation information support system(70) makes it possible sharing the final wiring design data and standard data with post process companies or cooperation companies. The installation specification management system(80) exchanges data with the product BOM management system(20), simulates a wiring specification of a vehicle, and manages the simulated wiring specification of a vehicle. The circuit management system(90) generates and manages wiring circuit diagrams. The layout management system(100) generates and manages three dimensional layout path data and harness production diagrams.
