The carding engine to form a fiber web has a drum to carry the fibers, with a air shaft along it to deliver an air flow downwards from above, to be detached from the drum and fly freely through the air shaft. A jet (10) is in front of the air shaft (4), in the direction of the air flow, with adjustment to set the angle of the air stream against the drum surface. The carding engine, to form a fiber web, has a jet which pivots on an axis which is parallel to the drum axis. Two air channels (8,9) are upstream of the drum (2) which, together, form the air shaft. One channel is a blowing conduit, for the air to be blown, and the other channel (8) is for suction. The jet is located in the blowing channel.
