PURPOSE: A smart card management system and method is provided to manage applications and data, stored at a smart card, in real time at a remote place by using a mobile terminal over a wireless network. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a smart card management data generation server(10), a smart card management database(40), a smart card management server(30), a mobile terminal(50) and a smart card(60). The smart card management data generation server(10), in association with a member management database(20), generates applications or data to be embedded on the smart card. The smart card management server(30) combines the generated applications or data with a member identification code, searches for an identification code of a smart card(60) owned by the corresponding member in the smart card management database(40), downloads the applications or the data to the mobile terminal(50), including the smart card, over the wireless network, receives download confirmation message from the mobile terminal(50), and updates the smart card management database(40).
