A reflective-type optical sensor forms an optical path originated from a light emitter to a light receiver through the reflectors (40A,40B). The shielding portions (42A,42B) in the ink cartridges (32A,32B), shield the path when the cartridges are mounted on a holder (31). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) inkjet printer; and (2) ink cartridge.
