PURPOSE: A device for preventing an incorrect telephone number transmission of a telephone subscriber and a method therefor are provided to verify a telephone number transmitted by an originating subscriber with the use of a statistical method, thereby reducing economic/time loss caused when an incorrect telephone number is delivered. CONSTITUTION: A signal receiver(251) receives a receiver telephone number inputted by an originating subscriber(221A). A number translator(252) divides the transmitted receiver telephone number into local/office/subscriber numbers, and translates the divided numbers. A number verifier(253) compares the translated local/office/subscriber numbers with a past connection telephone number, and verifies whether the subscriber(221A) wants to receive the receiver telephone number. If so, a signal transmitter(254) controls a switch unit(222), and connects a call by using the receiver telephone number.
