PURPOSE: A bar code, and its decoding system and method are provided to decode a bar code, composed of the Hangul, numbers and alphabets, without other specific database. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises storages(10, 12, 14), an image capture module(16), a decoder(20), a controller(34), and a display. The storages(10, 12, 14) store bar code pattern sets, and Hangul key combination tables. The image capture module(16) captures the image including a certain bar code pattern. The decoder(20) decodes the image data captured by the image capture module(16). The controller(34) checks whether there exists data corresponding to a certain bar code pattern, converts the decoded data into combined general characters or combined Hangul characters according to the check result, stores the converted characters at an output buffer, and controls the output of the converted characters. The display displays the output characters.
