摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool made of coated cemented carbide in which a hard coated layer exhibits an excellent abrasion-resistant property at a high speed deep cutting condition. SOLUTION: In the cutting tool made of a coated cemented carbide, a hard coated layer comprising a composite nitride of Al and Ti is physically vapor-deposited on a surface of tungsten carbide-base cemented carbide base body or titanium carbide nitride-base cermet base body with a whole average layer thickness of 1-15μm. The hard coated layer of the cutting tool has a component concentration distribution structure in which the Al maximum containing point and the Ti maximum containing point alternately repeatedly exist at a predetermined interval in the layer thickness direction and the Al and Ti contents are continuously varied from the Al maximum containing point to the Ti maximum containing point or from the Ti maximum containing point to the Al maximum containing point respectively. The Al maximum containing point satisfies a composition formula: (Al<SB>1-</SB>XTiX)N (where X represents 0.05-0.30 in atomic ratio) and the Ti maximum containing point satisfies a composition formula: (Ti<SB>1-</SB>YAlY)N (where Y represents 0.05-0.35 in atomic ratio) respectively.
