PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely treat a plastic product containing a metallic material while restraining ignition in a method for dissolving the plastic material of the plastic product by throwing the plastic product in oil to recover the metallic material. SOLUTION: Apatite-mixed oil prepared by mixing the burnt bone material obtained by burning a bone of an animal in oil is heated to the prescribed temperature. The metal-containing plastic product is thrown in the heated apatite-mixed oil to heat and dissolve the plastic material in the plastic product and separated into the plastic material and the metallic material. In this case, a water layer is formed beneath the oil layer so that the dissolved plastic material is made to float in the upper part of the oil layer and the metallic material is made to sink in the water layer. Ignition during the treatment can be restrained by using the apatite-mixed oil and furthermore forming the water layer below the oil layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
