PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving mechanism capable of efficiently advancing a wheelchair by forward bringing-down force of a driving lever, and constructible with a simple structure in the wheelchair for driving travel by manually moving an operation lever in the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: This lever-driven wheelchair is provided with the driving lever 4 for rocking with a hub shaft 3 of a wheel 2 as the center, a torque gear 5 for rotating with the hub shaft as the center, and a guide gear 6 in a position separate from the hub shaft. A chain 7 supports a starting end part in an upper part of the driving lever 4 by interposing a tension spring 8, and is wound on the torque gear 5 and the guide gear 6, and a tail end part is supported by the driving lever 4 in a position separate from the rocking center. Thus, the torque gear 5 rotates by longitudinally rocking the driving lever. The driving lever can be rotated at a small angle for bringing down forward, and a large angle of the wheel 2 by transmitting rotation of this torque gear to a hub of the wheel via a one-way clutch.
