PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that much screwing work is required in the conventional arm rest mechanism so that higher costs are required due to the much labor. SOLUTION: An arm rest unit 7 is supported with a support unit 6 so as to make it spring up. The support unit 6 has a support shaft 9 erected on a base 8 fixed on a side frame of a back rest by using a bolt 10. The arm rest unit 7 is provided with an arm rest body 14 and a metal plate 17 fixed on a receiving part 16 of the arm rest body 14. A one-way clutch 19 comprising a circular plate with an elastic pawl is held between the arm rest body 14 and the metal plate 17 and prevents the support shaft 9 from slipping off. The head part 13 of the bolt 10 is guided with an arcuate groove 25 comprising a release groove of the metal plate 17. The head part 13 contacts arcuate ends 25a and 25b of the arcuate groove 25 to make it act as a rotary stopper of the arm rest unit 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
