PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin compound oxidation catalyst using molecular oxygen as an oxidizing agent and an oxidation method using the catalyst.

SOLUTION: In oxidation of an olefin compound by bringing the olefin compound into contact with a gas containing molecular oxygen, isopoly acid compound catalyst is used as the oxidation catalyst and the oxidation is carried out using the catalyst.
