<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure, with high accuracy and ease, the amount of femoral muscle and the balance between right and left. <P>SOLUTION: This measuring device has a main body 10 with tapered portions 11L and 11R to make the stretching/bending angle θ of extended legs placed thereon about 160°. The main body 10 is provided with measuring electrodes 14L and 14R to contact the backs of the knees fitted on the tops of the tapered portions 11L and 11R, measuring electrodes 15L and 15R to contact the palms by gripping them fitted on grip bars 12L and 12R projectingly attached to both sides of the main body 10, and energizing electrodes 13L and 13R to contact the calves fitted on the inclined surfaces of the tapered portions 11L and 11R. Thus, with electric current passing between both calves of the subject, voltages induced independently at the right and left thighs are measured, and the impedance is calculated. Then, by using an estimate equation formulated by regression analysis based on the data previously collected by MRI, body composition including the amount of the femoral muscle, the balance between right and left is estimated from body specification information such as the impedance measurements, the body height, the body weight, or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
