PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carbon nanotubes which enables preparation of a dispersion liquid of multilayer carbon nanotubes or a solution of the multilayer carbon nanotubes. SOLUTION: Carbon nanotubes are treated with plasma to control the content of acidic functional groups to 2% with respect to carbon on the outer surfaces of the nanotubes and are dispersed in a liquid by using ultrasonic waves to obtain the carbon nanotube dispersion liquid or the carbon nanotube solution. Carbon nanotubes are purified by dispersing the plasma treated-carbon nanotubes in a liquid and classifying. Or, the carbon nanotubes are purified by concentrating and drying the carbon nanotube dispersion liquid or the carbon nanotube solution. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
