PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a product quality by cutting a magnetic tape original roll in a plurality of narrow magnetic tapes with an excellent yield without causing stepping. SOLUTION: This magnetic tape manufacturing method winds the magnetic tapes on a winding side core by cutting the magnetic tape original roll 20 in the plurality of narrow magnetic tapes 26 by a slitter 14 while pulling out and carrying the magnetic tape original roll 20 from the sending-out side. A thin clear part CL exposed in a belt shape in width directional both end parts of the magnetic tape original roll is cut in advance by a roller-shaped rotary blade 230 having receiving blades in both end parts and a thin disk-like rotary blade 232 for forming a taper surface 232A on one side, and cutting the magnetic tape original roll 20 with the roller-shaped rotary blade 230 by applying shearing force. The thin disk-like rotary blade 232 is arranged outside both end parts of the roller-shaped rotary blade 230 so that an opposite side surface 232B of the taper surface 232A is opposed to both end parts of the roller-shaped rotary blade.
