<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve flexibility, softness, and slidability in the blood vessel of a distal end portion 4, in the distal end portion 4 of a medical guide wire of a superfine flexible wire body in which a resin coating 3 containing a radiopaque material is provided on a metal based core wire 2. <P>SOLUTION: In the structure of the medical guide wire 1, the distal end portion 5 of the core wire has a flat shape and has a plurality of stepped portions H1, H2 extending to the front end, formed by reducing the thickness of a plate in a direction to a center of the core wire 2 and crossing in a widthwise direction of the plate.
