<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selective desulfurization catalyst for hydrocarbon which suppresses the hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbon such as an olefinic hydrocarbon, an aromatic hydrocarbon or the like in FCC gasoline, keeps the octane value of FCC gasoline and can selectively perform the hydrodesulfurization of a sulfur compound contained in FCC gasoline, and to provide a desulfurization method using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The selective desulfurization catalyst for hydrocarbon is a catalyst produced by supporting a metal of the Group VI on an alumina carrier, or a catalyst produced by supporting metal of the Group VI and at least one metal selected from the Groups VIII-X on the alumina carrier and satisfies formula (I): X=A/[äCs-Cc)/Cs}×B]≥0.19 [wherein A is the support amount (mass%) of a metal of the Group VI, B is a surface area (cm<SP>2</SP>/g) of the alumina carrier, Cs is the adsorption amount (mol/cm<SP>2</SP>) of SO<SB>2</SB>on the alumina carrier, and Cc is the adsorption amount (mol/cm<SP>2</SP>) of SO<SB>2</SB>on the catalyst]. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
