PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a tetrakisfluorophenylborate which is useful as a catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins or as a raw material for synthesizing the same. SOLUTION: A mixed solvent of ether and an aliphatic hydrocarbon is used as a reaction solvent for preparing the tetrakisphenylborate according to the following reaction formula: 4M4-C6Y35+BCl3→M4B(C6Y35)4[wherein, M4is an alkali or alkaline earth metal, or represents R62Al (R6is an alkyl); and Y3is a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom].
