PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a benzylidene derivative suppressing the production of cytokines such as interleukin-12 (IL-12) and to provide a drug treating diseases associated with the cytokines. SOLUTION: The benzylidene derivative is represented by the formula äwherein, R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom, a 1-4C alkoxy group or a halogen atom; and X, Y and Z are each an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, an NH or a CH<SB>2</SB>; n is an integer of 1-10; and R<SP>2</SP>is a hydrogen atom, a carboxy group, a 2-5C alkoxycarbonyl group, a hydroxaminocarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group, a 2-9C N-alkyl-substituted carbamoyl group, an N-phenylcarbamoyl group, an N-(carboxyphenyl)carbamoyl group, a 9-12C N-(alkoxycarbonylphenyl)carbamoyl group or a 12-18C N-[2-(dialkylamino)-ethoxycarbonylphenyl]carbamoyl group} or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt.
