PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for fixing the end of a string member as to a string member winding device which prevents the end of the string member wound on a bobbin becoming loose and on which information such as the kind of the string member is mounted. SOLUTION: This end fixing device 1 is provided with a label attaching device 4 having a box shaped casing 3 able to move away or move closer relative to the end Wa of a string member W wound on a bobbin 2 through a top/bottom cylinder 5 and a front/back cylinder 6 fixed on the frame, etc., of a winding device. The label attaching device 4 comprises a supply part 7 for a strip-like sheet Q wound in a roll, a feeding mechanism 8 for continuously supplying the sheet Q and an attaching part 9 for separating a label R in a predetermined size attached to one side face of the mount Qa of the sheet Q and for attaching the adhesive face Rx of the same to the end Wa of the member W.
