<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball 1 equipped with an improved dimple pattern and showing excellent flight performance. <P>SOLUTION: The golf ball is equipped with many dimples 2 on the surface. The surface coverage Y of the dimples is equal to or more than 75%. The ratio R1 of the maximum diameter d<SB>max</SB>of the dimple to the diameter D of the golf ball 1 is equal to or more than 11.0% and equal to or less than 18.0%. The total number N of the dimples is equal to or less than 320. The ratio R2 of the number of the dimples 2 with the diameter d equal to or more than 11.0% and equal to or less than 18.0% of the diameter D to the total number N is equal to or more than 20%. The average coverage y or the value obtained by dividing the surface coverage Y by the total number N is equal to or more than 0.22%.
