PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of purifying organic halogen compound- contaminated soil by which an organic halogen compound contaminating the soil is effectively decomposed and removed with a small quantity of an oxidizing agent. SOLUTION: In the purification of the soil contaminated with the organic halogen compound by the addition of the oxidizing agent to the soil including under ground water, the oxidizing agent is diffused by injecting a gas into the soil while or after adding the oxidizing agent. Further, in the purification of the soil contaminated with the organic halogen compound by adding the oxidizing agent into the soil including the underground water, the addition of the oxidizing agent is controlled by adding the oxidizing agent containing a tracer, detecting the concentration of the tracer in the underground water at a position apart from the added position to judge the diffusing state of the oxidizing agent.
