PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent for removing a gaseous pollutant in air, more detailed, an adsorbent having a high removing capacity with respect to a lower aliphatic aldehyde such as acetaldehyde or the like. SOLUTION: The adsorbent is obtained by adding aminobenzenesulfonic acid to activated carbon with a pH of 9.0 or less. This adsorbent is manufactured by adding aminobenzenesulfonic acid to activated carbon washed until becoming 9.0 or less in pH. By this constitution, the adsorbent having a high capacity for stably removing the lower aliphatic aldehyde can be manufactured. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
