PURPOSE:To manufacture a silver halide photographic emulsion for light development giving superior dot quality by preparing an emulsion contg. >=50mol% AgCl in the presence of a decomposition product of a nucleic acid and substituting a specified amount of an iodine compound for part of the emulsion with halogen. CONSTITUTION:In the manufacture of a silver halide emulsion for lith development contg. a polyalkylene oxide compound, before finishing the 1st aging of silver halide or at the time of the emulsification or the 1st aging, a decomposition product of a nucleic acid such as adenine or guanine is added to an emulsion contg. >=50mol% AgCl by 1-500mg/mol of AgCl. A photosensitive material contg. the emulsion thus obtd. gives high dot quality using an automatic developimg apparatus and a lith developer independently of developing time. By carrying out halogen substitution with a soln. of 0.01-2mol% NaI, KI or the like after finishing the desalting process, the emulsion is improved furthermore. |
