PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce material, to improve attachment strength of tooth to a fastener tape and strength of the tooth, and to stabilize attachment posture of the tooth to the fastener tape. SOLUTION: A metal wire(10) for forming the tooth of the slide fastener has a substantially Y-shape in cross section and the tooth is obtained from the wire. The internal surface from a forked portion (12) to a pawl portion (14) at the tip of each leg portion (13) is successively formed with three or more of inwardly bending bend portions (13a-13c, 14a) in the extended direction of the leg portion (13). In the pawl portions (14) protruded from the tips of the right and left leg portions (13) to the inside, a bend portion (14a) between the internal surface of the leg portion (13) and the internal surface of the base end part of the pawl portion (14) exists on the outside of a straight line (L<SB>3</SB>), which is parallel to a straight line (L<SB>2</SB>) from the middle point 0<SB>3</SB>on a straight line (L) between the tip 0<SB>2</SB>of the right and left pawl portions (14) to the middle point 0<SB>1</SB>of a cross section of a head portion (11) and passes the tip 0<SB>2</SB>of the pawl portion (14).
