PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which car confirm that an ink cartridge is appropriately set in a printer body. SOLUTION: A circuit chip 130 having a communication range R limited to approximately '0.3 (mm)' is mounted in the ink cartridge 100. Unless the ink cartridge 100 is appropriately set in the printer body, the ink cartridge and the printer body cannot communicate by radio. It is confirmed in this manner whether or not the ink cartridge 100 is appropriately set in the printer body. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
