PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive method for treating rubbish, by which various kinds of rubbish can stably be treated efficiently with high heat efficiency, and to provide a rubbish treating apparatus. SOLUTION: Rubbish is thrown in a vertical heating column 1 from the upper part, layered in the column 1, heated from the outside, dried successively and carbonized.
