PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent for removing a gaseous pollutant in air, more detailed, an adsorbent having a high removing capacity with respect to a lower aliphatic aldehyde such as acetaldehyde or the like. SOLUTION: The adsorbent is constituted by adding an ammonium aminobenzenesulfonate to activated carbon with a specific surface area of 1,500 m<SP>2</SP>/g or more in an amount of 10-100% by weight of activated carbon.
