PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that can print on a label face of a surface of an optical disk and print on a sheet type printing medium which is used as a back face of, for example, a disk housing case or the like. SOLUTION: This printer comprises a tray 5 for supporting a disk and a printing means for printing an input character string on the surface of the disk supported by the tray 5. A printing auxiliary device 20 capable of holding a sheet type printing medium is provided to the printer. The printing medium is held by the printing auxiliary device 20 and the printing auxiliary device 20 is disposed on a predetermined position on the tray 5 instead of the disk, and then a predetermined character string is printed on the surface of the printing medium on the printing auxiliary device 20 by the printing means in the above condition.
