PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1,2-epoxycyclododecane (ECD), comprising hydrogenating 1,2-epoxy-5,9-cyclododecadiene (ECD") in the presence of a platinum catalyst, by which the ECD can industrially be produced in a high yield and in a high selectivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the ECD is characterized by (1) catalytically reacting the ECD" with hydrogen in the presence of a platinum catalyst, (2) filtering and recovering the platinum catalyst from the reaction mixture of the process (1), (3)dispersing the recovered catalyst in the separated filtrate to prepare the recovered slurry, and (4) returning the recovered slurry to the process (1) to reuse the recovered catalyst.
