PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal coating method for imparting a keratinous fiber, especially the hair, with residual cosmetic characteristics against shampoo treatment. SOLUTION: This metal coating method for imparting the keratinous fiber, especially the hair, with the residual cosmetic characteristics against the shampoo treatment comprises directly applying at least one metal salt to the keratinous fiber in the presence of at least one reducing agent in a cosmetically acceptable medium, so as to form a pure metal corresponding to the metal salt on the spot. Aluminum, an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, a transition metal, a rare earth metal or alloys thereof is preferably selected as a metal of the metal salt. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
