PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating an optical fiber with a thin film protective layer so as to suppress the eccentricity of≤1μm and to decrease connection loss of a connector. SOLUTION: In the resin coating method for the thin film-coated optical fiber by applying the resin on an optical fiber F drawn from an optical fiber preform in a spinning furnace to coat the optical fiber F with the thin film protective layer, a ring-type resin supply pipe 20 is used to supply the resin from four directions to form a resin reservoir 23, and the optical fiber F is passed through the resin reservoir 23 so as to control the eccentricity of the thin film-coated optical fiber to≤1μm.
