摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carbon nanotubes having easily controllable alignment, to provide carbon nanotube precursor fibers suitable to obtain the carbon nanotubes, and to provide a method for manufacturing carbon nanotubes by using the precursor fibers. SOLUTION: Carbon nanotubes have≤500 nm diameter and≥100,000 aspect ratio. The carbon nanotube precursor fibers are sea-island continuous fibers having the island component containing a substance to be carbonized into carbon nanotubes by calcination and having the sea component comprising a substance which is scattered or removed by calcinations or other treatments. The island component consists of core-sheath type fibers each having≤700 nm diameter, or the island component has≤10 nm diameter in the case of the nanotube precursor fibers.
