PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an aluminum alloy-silicon carbide-based composite in a high productivity. SOLUTION: A structure for producing the aluminum alloy-silicon carbide- based composite is composed of a block obtained by arranging or piling a plurality of units (3) through spacers (4), and in each unit (3), a plurality of silicon carbide-based porous bodies (2) are accommodated in a frame (1) in such a manner that each silicon carbide porous body is partitioned by a partition (6). The method of producing the aluminum alloy-silicon carbide-based composite is characterized by placing the structure in a pressuring vessel, filling a molten aluminum alloy and impregnating the silicon carbide porous body with the molten aluminum alloy under pressure, then cooling, and separating the aluminum alloy-silicon carbide-based composite.
