A rubbery material suitable as (e.g.) a covering for an electrical cable or wire, or for piping, is derived from a blend of a rubbery ethylene copolymer with one or more additives (e.g. vinyl- trimethoxy silane and a peroxide) serving to modify the copolymer so as to enable it to be crosslinked by moisture; and a partly crystalline polyolefin containing tertiary or quaternary carbon atoms and which is not crosslinked. Coverings can be applied and crosslinked by moisture, the modification of the copolymer taking place before or during application. |
