FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: invention is dealing with primary petroleum distillation comprising fractioning petroleum into atmospheric distillate, vacuum distillate, and vacuum residue. Processing includes following steps: (i) atmospheric distillation producing atmospheric distillate and stripped oil; and (ii) vacuum distillation of stripped oil under no- heating conditions producing vacuum distillate and vacuum residue. Stripped oil is fed into vacuum distillation means at temperature no higher than 380 C and below temperature of petroleum entering atmospheric means. Installation comprises atmospheric and vacuum distillation means plus pipeline no longer than 50 m to directly pass stripped oil to vacuum means. Installation can also be constructed in the form of distillation column wherein atmospheric fractionation means is located in upper internal section and vacuum distillation means in lower internal section.
